Grimm World: Academic Extinction pt 1

Due to the recent attacks on the Atlas research facility in Vale, a new unit was created within the police department. One made for a fast armed response to any major attack or incident within the city limits. The day was like any other, students from Beacon were using their downtime to come into town, with the sunny weather and bustling streets and lively community, it was the perfect place for the students to enjoy themselves. Mylitta had just been to visit her sister working in the florists on the main high-street, catching up on what happened over the break they had from school, how tanned she was and any other gossip. She made her way down the high-street before she heard two familiar voices coming from behind, she turned slowly to see Pardus and Mari both walking towards her. "Hey Cupcake" Mari said with her trademark smirk as Mylitta fluttered her elegant wings towards the two.
"Hey guys" Mylitta said as she lowered herself to her feet.
"Sooo~ How are your sisters?" Pardus asked as he rubbed his neck.

Mylitta turned on her toes as they headed back down the street. "They're fine~ Just catching up with the gossip is all" She beamed, however the lively and happy atmosphere of the town was cut down abruptly as the sounds of police sirens and large armoured vehicles filled the air. Without warning, an armoured convoy roared down the road, forcing other cars to pull up onto the curd before they vanished round the corner. A few seconds later the sound of an explosion followed sporadic gunfire rattled down the street as civilians fled the area. "Woow~" Pardus gasped at the sudden change in atmosphere. "We should totally go and check that out" He said before running off down the street.
"Pouty!... ugh" Mari groaned as she and Mylitta ran after him. As they turned the corner, they saw at the very end of the road by the warehouses at the dock, a fire was raging and one of the armoured vehicles from before was a smoldering wreck.

The group ran on as the gunfire grew more and more intense, however along with it came the cries of agony and confusion. "This doesn't sound too pleasant" Mylitta said as she rubbed her arms. The trio moved closer but stopped and ducked into an empty cafe as armed police officers charged out from the large open gates of the docks. Firing as they ran with wounded officers being dragged or carried from the chaos, however it wasn't enough to stop whatever they were fighting. An officer was thrown clear over the fence, landing on the top of one of the armoured vehicles, only top be followed by a large shipping container, the massive box of metal rammed through the last standing officers and scattered the vehicles like toy cars. The trio watched in horror through the window as a mechanical monstrosity trudged through the gates, holding a struggling officer by the neck. Mylitta gasped in horror as there was a loud snap and the officer went limp. Before the man could even hit the floor, a second wave of officers drove in from behind, one vehicle rammed the mess of man and metal, causing him to fly forwards. Claws dug into the concrete, sparks flew as he let out a monstrous roar. He growled menacingly as he stood back up, rolling his shoulders as he stepped towards the new 'nuisances' ahead of him. There was a loud flash and a bang as something went off in front of the criminal, with a shrill of pain and groaning he broke off down the street and climbed a building, but not before dropping something at the door of the cafe. The police went into chase, leaving medical crew to clean up the utter chaos left behind.

"That... was Raptor, I saw him on the news, they said he was a monster but..." Pardus looked out at the blood strewn street. "Not like that" He added as they all slowly walked out of the cafe.
"What's this?" Mylitta asked as she picked up the fallen object, it was small, shiny and had multiple ports for cables.
"I don't know... maybe that Onyx girl could help?" Mari said as she looked over it. "Look whatever it is, being here isn't going to help at all... lets get out of here before we end up like those losers!" Mari added as she pulled Mylitta back down the street where they came. Pardus took one last look at the horror scene in front of him before jogging over to catch up. It didn't take long for the news to spread round the academy, people were a little concerned but not overly worried about it.

Canis was stood in his teams bathroom, trimming his beard after the long break. As much as he liked it, and even Sinnamon admitted it felt good, he knew the teaching staff wouldn't allow it to go unkempt. He was just about done when there was a knock on the team room door. "Onyx... it's your turn" He called out. 
"Nova... it's your turn" Onyx groaned as she sat on her bed, nursing her lightly burned skin. Nova giggled as she ran towards the door and practically ripped it from it's hinges. "HI!" He yelled at the two people waiting outside. Mari and Mylitta leaned back as Nova looked over them, snapping from one to another. "Can I help you?" She asked as she opened the door.
"Can... we come in? To talk to Onyx?" Mylitta asked, Canis heared her voice and looked at himself in the mirror, wearing nothing but a towel to cover his modesty his eyes went wide. He used his foot to slam the door shut as the shower curtain peeled back behind him slightly as Sinnamon poked her head out of it. "Who's there?" She said with a raised brow.
"Uh... Mylitta" Canis said as he locked the door. "...with Mari.. wants to speak to Onyx..." He added.
Sinnamon frowned before raising a single brow, "Just get in the shower... I need to clean that cut on your back" She said before rolling her eyes and smiling and closing the curtain. 
"Oh okay" Canis said before doing as he was told.

Meanwhile outside of the bathroom, Onyx was still looking rather sorry for herself, wearing her black velvety soft dressing gown as she rubbed a cream into her skin for the sunburn. "Hey Onyx" Mylitta said as she came in and sat down on the bed opposite her. Nova launched herself onto her top bunk and continued sticking shells onto her bed frame. "Hey Butterfly... what's up?" She groaned as she tried to straighten out. "Sorry you have to see me in the ghastly state" 
"Pft we've seen worse in our team room trust me" Mari said as she sat down next to her teammate.
"Well... we were in town when the attack happened and... well... we watched it first happened." Mylitta explained. "And that Raptor guy dropped this" She said as she held up the silver device. 
"Huh... that looks like a portable data drive, not your usual stuff for movies and such... this is meant for serious hard wear" She said as she took it to look over, she squinted slightly as she read the markings on the side. "This is an Atlas piece of hard wear" She said quietly.

"We know you're a tech whiz and we thought if we brought this to you, you'd be able to maybe see what's inside... and maybe we'd have an advantage if this guy comes here" Mari said as she leaned forwards.
"Let me get this straight... you picked up something that you have no idea about, that belongs to one of the most wanted men in the world... and you brought it back here... to beacon?" Onyx said as she put the device back into Mari's hands.
"When you say it like that... it makes me sound like an idiot" She said as she blinked a few times.
"I am not opening up that... thing on anything, I don't want a whole can of worms being opened up because we got nosy" Onyx said as she folded her arms.
"If it's dangerous... we'll take it to the police in the morning" Mylitta said as she put her hands together.
"Better them screw up than us" Onyx sighed.
"So hows your team after the holiday?" Mylitta said trying to change the conversation.
"We're... so... AWESOME!" Nova said as she hung herself over the edge of the top bunk. "Totally best team of the year" She added as she dangled by her ankles.
"Where is the rest of your team?" Mari asked as she raised her brow, however her question was answered for her by a stifled giggle and then a gasp coming from the bathroom.
"... Oh for the love of god... COULD YOU TWO NOT PLAY BURY THE BONE IN THE DAMN SHOWER!" Onyx yelled as Mari looked at Mylitta and the two decided it was the best time to leave as Nova looked down at Onyx. 
"What's hiding the bone?" She asked as Onyx started to twitch ever so slightly.

Mari held her laughter until they were out the door and she could hold it in no longer, Mylitta's entire face was red from the image that flashed into her head. Meanwhile in the next block, things were more relaxed. Scented smoke trickled out of an open window. Inside the team room, resting up a storm was Fenrir and Vuurbal, two second years who like most of the academy went on the mass group holiday and were now recovering like everyone else. Vuurbal's hammock swayed in the breeze however no one was in it. The Islander faunus had his jackets hung up on the door, his boots kicked off next to a bed along with a pair of heeled red and white converse boots. His two axes leaned up against the wall with larger two handed blade leaned up over them. 

On the bed itself, wrapped up in a tangle of arms and legs was Fenrir and Vuurbal. Vuurbal was flat on his back with Fenrir's head resting on his chest under his chin, her arms ran round his back, up his shoulder as her hands held him tenderly as their legs were wrapped together, given their height different Fenrir's legs dominated the bed but the smile on the both of their faces showed that they were in complete comfort with each other. Fenrir stirred slightly, the smell of incense totally relaxing her body, just enough for her to wriggle up to kiss Vuurbal on his chin before snuggling herself down again. The two slept peacefully for a few more hours, however with the feeling of total peace, and the relaxing smell of the incense made for a powerful blast of Vuurbal's semblance. He twitched slightly as he got flashes of fire, rubble, crumbling shadows and then he jolted awake as he saw a bolt of bronze pierce the heart of a friend. 

Vuurbal panted as he lay awake, Fenrir's grip on him tightened as he tried to move, she didn't know it but she was calming him down. His breathing slowed and he closed his eyes again as he slowly rolled onto his side, facing towards Fenrir as she slowly woke up herself. She smiled at him before kissing him softly. "Afternoon" She smiled as she pulled him closer.
"A..afternoon" He said as he was pulled into her chest. "We... should get ready for later" He said as he pushed himself out of the soft prison. Fenrir giggled as she let him slip from her hands before rolling onto her front.
"Can I get a back massage tonight?... my back is killing me" She pouted as she bent her legs and leaned up on her elbows with her chin in her palms.
"Sounds like a perfect plan" He smiled as he picked up his boots and slipped them on.
"You were thrashing around there for a while there sugar cube" She said with a look of concern. 
"I had a... powerful premonition, very vivid" He smiled as he looked back over his shoulder. "Nothing to be worried about I'm sure" He said as he stood up and walked over to get his jackets.
